Menerung House
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
Our first attempt at a terrace house remodeling. With the relaxation of setback rules we created a tropical Peranakan-style courtyard house with 4 bedrooms, with servant and drivers quarters. Steel framed structure was used to create a higher ceiling and quicker construction time frame.
The house was designed with a glass water feature on the roof that allowed light to penetrate central circulation core of the house. The running water also removed any heat build up inside the house. A unique feature we incorporated into the house facade was timber screen with built-in mosquito netting that allowed the windows to be left open through out the day allowing for natural ventilation and cool breeze to permeate though the house.
